At the same time, he can help to accomplish these goals while minimizing taxes, avoiding probate, and maximizing retirement accumulations that are frequently subject both to income and estate taxes.
Michael L. Wood will also assist in the administration of New Hampshire estates and trusts of all sizes and, particularly, in dealing with issues involving litigation, closely-held businesses, and real estate investments in the Lake Sunapee region.
Probate is the court-supervised process for settling a deceased person’s estate. Probate may or may not be necessary depending on how the deceased person’s assets were titled at the time of death. If the deceased person had a Revocable Living Trust, then the trust will need to be settled in a manner similar to probate but without the supervision of a probate court.
